It's such a delight to have the lovely Danie from Pasadya here today. Her talent and creativity has been a source of inspiration from the moment I stumbled across her beautiful blog. What a joy to have her here to share all about what is behind her creative process. Thank you for sharing, Danie!
Hello! My name is Danie, and I'm the artist behind Pasadya. I'm SO excited to be stepping in for Lena during her envious road trip that's sure to be filled with potato chips and deep conversation. Thanks for having me, Lena!
One of my earliest memories of my realization of my love for art was when I was four years old. This particular morning, I had collected my fine art materials consisting of Crayola markers and crayons paired with a coloring book illustrated with bears, set up my collapsible tent on my twin bed, and crawled inside the tent to draw and color. As I was contentedly filling the blank pages with color, I realized at that moment that I was MUST have been born to be an artist.
I’ve gone through a lot of changes with my long-term decisions for my career, especially since I’m a graduate of interior design. I’ll always have a soft spot for interior design, but since less than a year ago, I've reverted back to my inner four-year-old artistic ways. It’s safe to say that I've become a dreamer once again. It's difficult and scary not knowing exactly what the future may bring, but isn't that true for everyone? You can read about my decision to begin my business here if you’re curious.
Lena thought that since I'm such an art fart that I should share a little bit of my typical art process with you. Well of course I'd love to share! You ready? Let's go then.
1. When it all comes down to it, I think everything can be an artistic process, even if it doesn't involve getting paint stuck under your nails while twirling around to your station on Pandora. For instance, I have a new love for photography that I've never developed until blogging. Going out and actually wanting to document the details of the world around me inspires me more than I can say. When I'm able to capture something I find to be inexplicably beautiful, I'm inspired to create the same brilliant colors or lines on canvas or paper.
2. I'm not only inspired by learning new things and observing the world all on my own. I find great inspiration through others in fashion, photography, art, food, nature, life circumstances, you name it. This particular day, I found these jaw-dropping images by Mario Sierra, and I couldn't get them off my mind for anything. So, naturally, I immediately blogged about his work. My paints and blank canvases were calling me soon afterwards. I LOVE it when that happens.
3. These two paintings are examples of what happens during my creative bursts. When I look at the pieces, I automatically associate them with this song and this story. However, just because I may associate a particular song or story with one of my pieces doesn’t mean that everyone else should feel the same way. In fact, I think artwork becomes stronger when a viewer can associate bits of his or her own, true life with a particular piece.
Well, there you have it. My process of creating art isn't always the same, but it does usually come in bursts, and I have to blog about it, put it on Pinterest, or paint / draw it so that I don't lose my concepts. I can't even begin to describe the way art makes me feel, except that I get lost in another world when I'm creating it. I hope you have something that you're crazy about too!
So tell me, how do you go about your creative process?
