I took a few days towards the end of my trip in California to spend a little time with family. My dad and I met in San Diego and made our way up the coast to Big Sur. I imagined that it would be beautiful, but wow – this place took my breath away over and over and over again. Pretty sure I asked my dad to pull over at least 73 times to take pictures.
I just wanted to frolic through this meadow and then live in it forever.Of course we made a stop at McWay Falls – you know, just a waterfall that tumbles down a cliff onto a secluded beach. And taking it all in just as the golden hour began? It was paradise, my friends.
Just a random view on the side of the road. See what I'm saying?!?!?! THIS PLACE!
We couldn't leave Big Sur without a hike through the redwoods. And so that's what we did. Do you spy a very tiny looking Lena's dad in the picture above? Yeah, those trees are enormous.
These clouds were right around the corner from blue skies and sunshine. It was kind of weird and confusing – but pretty rad at the same time. Also, this wasn't the only time we experienced such drastic climate changes. It was almost as if we crossed some sort of imaginary line that the sun wasn't allowed to cross. You know, the sun and clouds had a "this is my side" kind of agreement. And this ends my tangent about weather on this blog (because that's just kind of embarrassing).
How one of the greatest meals of my life began – sipping wine on the side of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
And then the sunset happened.
And then this happened. Hands down, one of the best cheese plates I've ever experienced. Partly because of the awesomeness happening all around me, but also because it was all locally sourced and I'm a sucker for that kind of thing.
This was good too. I mean, just look at it.
Love you, dad! Thanks for exploring Big Sur with me and all the incredible memories.
P.S. So much more to share from my time in America and our long weekend in France upon my return home. Prepare yourselves!
