I'm so honored to be a part of a beautiful team of people to bring your a brand new series called, Ladies of the Mountains. Every other week you'll find a little bit of the mountains on each of our blogs (check them out here, here, here, here, and here). We have some pretty fabulous things planned and can't wait to share it all with you! Let the epicness commence.. beginning with mountain attire.
/1/ A good pair of shorts // I love myself a good pair of hiking shorts (or pants depending on the weather). I've had the the shorts that you see up there for several years now and they're still going strong. Yippee!
/2/ A handkerchief // A messy french braid and a handkerchief headband is a magical combination. The braid keeps your hair out of the way and the handkerchief not only keeps the sweat out of your eyes but it also hides the reality of what's happening on your head after a few days without a shower. It's awesome.
/3/ A polypro shirt // I don't really have a good reason to love that men's polypro v-neck up there but I totally do. For those wondering why polypro and not cotton? The answer is quite simple and to the tune of Since You've Been Gone.. cotton is wrong, it's really cold and it won't dry (excerpt from the song Layer Ladies, which I learned while working at a backpacking camp in British Columbia). And there you have it.
/4/ Hiking boots // Depending on the terrain and weather conditions, I may just stick to my tennis shoes but I love having a good pair of boots for when I need them. And if we're talking trekking through the mountains here, I'd probably consider that a needing them kind of circumstance.
/5/ The socks of all socks // I wear my wool socks even when I'm not hiking. They basically translate to a toasty party for my feet and it rocks. And they're not cotton, so even if I'm in the woods and caught in the rain.. the party continues.
