treasures // ladies of the mountains

09 May 2013

I collect rocks. But every one is so much more than a token to remind me of a trip (read free souvenir) and something pretty to look at – it's a memory.

The biggest one? It reminds me of an afternoon sipping espresso in Rome's piazzas with my love. That red one? I picked it up as my dad an I enjoyed a celebratory cigar together after summiting a mountain in British Columbia. The triangle shaped rock at the bottom? David slipped it into his pocket while we took in the view at the edge of a 2,244 foot cliff. And that round one on the left? That one is from Haiti's Kaliko Beach. The place where David and I sat until early morning talking about the injustice we witnessed, the night we put things into perspective.

I collect rocks to remember great adventures by. And one day I hope that there will be too many to count.

See what my fellow mountain ladies are collecting over here, here, here, here, here, and here.
